According to a new CNNMoney poll 9 out of 10 respondents gave themselves better than even odds of accomplishing their top financial goal for 2008 (though many simultaneously fear they don’t have the cash to do it).

One way to help yourself keep your money promise is to automate it. Set up your bank account to regularly debit money toward savings or debt.

Here are the top goals:

Save for retirement (23%)

Build an emergency fund (11%)

Buy real estate (11%)

51% think they may not have the money to make it happen
